Ambitious policies are needed to end plastic pollution. While the economic costs of implementing such policies are modest overall, they will be unevenly distributed across countries. Developing countries would reap important benefits but may lack sufficient resources to implement the necessary policies. Development co-operation can help scale up policy efforts and resource mobilisation. This policy brief examines flows of official development assistance to curb plastic pollution, highlights the role of development co-operation providers and offers priorities for policymakers.
